An unforgettable journey through the beautiful island of Cozumel. The Gran Fondo will take you all the way around the island, taking in the spectacular views of this Mayan paradise. You will ride along 20 kilometres of coastal roads that stretch along the turquoise sea, while navigating the island’s challenging winds.
This event will take place on the island paradise of Cozumel. Competitors will swim 1.2 miles off the coast in the Caribbean Sea. After the swim, athletes will set off on a 56-mile bike course from the car park at Chankanaab Park, finishing next to the Municipal Palace in the heart of the city centre. The 13.1 mile running course is entirely flat and paved and passes through many of the attractions of central Cozumel.
It all starts with a swim among tropical fish in the protected reef waters of the Chankanaab National Park. A three-lap, 180-kilometre bike course on a completely flat road takes competitors past spectacular beaches and resorts in the city of San Miguel. The three-lap run is accompanied by bands playing traditional Mexican music and crowds of supporters creating a festive atmosphere. The finish line is in Cozumel’s town hall square, where locals cheer on all IRONMAN finishers.
