Shari and I spent 7 great days last week at your hotel. It was our first stay with you. Playa Azul was recommended by a customer of my wife who has stayed at your hotel every year for the past 7 years. We had a wonderful time and plan on staying again next year or maybe even sooner. You have a great resort and you and all the employees should be proud.
I attached a picture I took last Thursday evening we wish we were still there.

Dear Playa Azul employees
This is the McQuade family. We recently stay at Playa Azul for the Ironman Race and we just wanted to say that it was very beautiful and very peaceful. The people are very nice and friendly. We loved the service we received. We enjoyed breakfast in the morning with Carlos and the others. We especially enjoyed dinner with JULIO - he has since made new friends with us. He is very nice man and a good worker.
Say hello to all for us especially Julio Pacheco.
Muchas Gracias,

Martha and Fernando,
My wife and I want to compliment you on your outstanding hotel, employees and service. The 5 days we spent there this past week were wonderful.
Every facet of your hotel was exceptions. The complimentary breakfast, complimentary snorkeling equipment, the fair priced beverages and food, the outstanding attitude and kindness of your staff, the spotless hotel cleanliness, the marvelous bedrooms, the free WI if for our computers, the exceptional cabanas and chaise lounge ..everything.
The only suggestion I would add is please offer calling fans in the rooms. If you had ceiling fans we would not have to turn our air conditioner temperature down so often.
What a great staff who was exceptionally helpful in all areas. We will be returning every year for now on.Thank you for providing a terrific experience...and super value.

A huge THANKS to Fernando and the entire staff at Plaza Azul for a
truly exceptional visit! The beach and swimming is relaxing, the golf
is fun and convenient, the restaurant and breakfast buffet scrumptious!
Our suite was delightful. We loved the 'towel art' we found in our room
each afternoon!!! The view is perfect, sunsets even better, and every night
we slept to the sound of the waves rolling ashore......We had an evening
departure out of Cozumel, and we very much appreciate your allowing
us a late checkout. We look forward to visiting again soon.

This was my first trip to Mexico and Cozumel, I have travelled all over on business & a lot in Europe & Egypt for holidays. I was mostly interested in the diving but also wanted a great place for my non diving partner to relax and enjoy. I would love to go back there anytime, certainly one of the best places I’ve ever been for a holiday in terms of enjoyment, weather and value for money.
The hotel is in the quiet northern hotel sector of Cozumel but only a short taxi ride away from the bustling centre which has many shops & bars & a big supermarket for any supplies you may need. Taxi’s are $7 or $8 and always available! Usually waiting outside the hotel but it’s also worthwhile to rent a car and tour all around Cozumel for a day and see the Mayan ruins in the middle of the island. They will bring the car to your hotel for you!
The hotel is lovely, perfectly clean and homely, the staff will provide anything that you need , including ice for your cool box! Rooms are well cleaned and serviced daily and all rooms have a balcony looking out over the lovely beach which is small but big enough for all the guests without being crowded, and snorkelling in the shallows is great fun. We didn’t get to try the golf but maybe next time.
The breakfast buffet is excellent and the chef will cook eggs freshly for you in the way that you choose, the meals are great quality and the service exemplary! I could not fault this hotel at all, and that’s saying something from me!
Thanks guys for a great time. Hope to see you in the bubbles…… soon !

We just got back from our first-ever stay at Playa Azul (August 22-29) and it was incomparable. I won't repeat what all the other guestbook entries have raved about - the fantastic staff, the delicious food, the tranquil and rejuvenating atmosphere. All those things (and more) are absolutely correct. However, what impressed me more than anything else, is that in all my various travels on six continents, I have never felt more valued as a guest than I was made to feel at this perfect little gem of a hotel. Thanks so much for creating very happy memories.

Thank you so much for another wonderful week at Playa Azul. We were there with family and friends June 4-10 and it was a perfect experience as always!Every time we visit we meet other guests who, like us, return to Playa Azul again and again -the unique experience you provide has brought you many loyal patrons. The Playa Azul staffis always attentive and friendly - a smile on every face and thoughtfulness in every detail. They truly seem to take pleasure in making guests feel at home. The food is fresh and delicious, the drinks cold, and the atmosphere so tranquil it always makes us sad to leave.
We'll be back as soon as we can!

Our family had a great time at Playa Azul during our 6 night stay (June 4th - 10th). The food and drinks
were outstanding and so was the service. I would like to thank Juan, Carlos, Kermit, Felipe, Gil, Julio,
Marcial, Hernan, Martha, Erick, Eleazer, Gina and all the other staff at Playa Azul for making our stay the
best. Hernan was very helpful and set up our dolphin swim (which the kids loved). The kids loved feeding
the turtles each morning and evening. Martha & Fernando made us feel right at home. The kids are ready
to go again. We all look forward to coming back again and creating more great memories with you guys.

Were returned 4 weeks ago from our 5Th vacation at Playa Azul. We miss everyone so very much!
We didn't think it was possible for our stay to get any better, but it did! As usual, our room was impeccably
clean and our 7 year old daughter loved the towel sculptures every day. The breakfast buffet was as amazing
as every!(I dream about the coffee) Your warmth and hospitality will always keep us coming back to our home
away from home, each and every year! We dined in your finest dining room for dinner one evening, and we felt
the presentation, service and food quality, surpassed all of our expectations, and we feel it was our finest
dinning experience of our entire stay. Once again, thank you to Hernan, Carlos, Juan, Kermit and all of the
Incredible Playa Azul staff for taking such good care of us. Thank you Eleazer, for always responding to my
questions and requests! For anyone thinking of visiting Cozumel, this is THE PLACE to stay!

A friend and I spent 8 delightful days at Playa Azul. We had read in a golf magazine that it was one of the 10 best-kept secrets for a golf vacation. We checked out the website and read the many favorable comments in the Guest Book. While we believed what we had read, there is always the chance that OUR opinion might not be the same as others'. Well, let me tell you, everything in the Guest Book is true, and I feel obligated to add our experience so future guests know what's in store for them. Where to begin? First, the hotel itself was perfect for a casual, feel-at-home stay. The room was nicely decorated and spotless. The staff was professional and friendly. By the third moning, they knew I was not a coffee drinker, so when I sat down my coffee cup was politely removed, and I never again was asked if I wanted coffee. We chose Playa Azul especially because of golf - - both the quality/challenge of the course and the inclusion of green fees in the room rate. Not only was the course beyond our expectations, but the facility itself (driving range, practice area, food, and staff) could not have been better. I think you have the idea by now that we enthusiastically recommend Playa Azul. I don't want to convey the impression that it is a fancy, luxurious resort. It is not. Rather, it is simple, well-done in every aspect, and without a doubt the best bang for the buck we have ever seen. Enjoy - - and bring lots of golf balls!

My wife and I just returned to Thornton Colorado after having stayed at Playa Azul for just the 3rd time. We've stayed at a couple of other larger resorts on the island but they don't come as close to making us feel as welcome. As Carlos greeted me on our previous visit with "welcome home', it certainly has felt that way with each of our stays. Hernan at the front desk has always been a tremendous help. Carlos in the restaurant as always gets our day started off with a warm buenos dias and a big smile at breakfast. The staff is always friendly and ready to help you with any questions or needs. The housekeepers, groundskeepers, cooks, bartenders, wait staff and maintenance workers, I wish I knew everyone's name so that I could thank each one of you individually for always making our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. Until next year.

My husband and I spent Christmas and New Year's Eve at Playa Azul. We are going back to San Diego tom January 3rd after an amazing vacation. We have been spoiled by this staff. They will go the extra mile to accommodate your request! Calm and quiet if you don't have kids, lots of space and options if you have them. Clean and nice without the "luxury" feeling. I think they have the best staff in the world. The bar area on the beach is the best area to make new friends and ask about the island. Marcial run this bar and we can say he is a mix of barman and island encyclopedia. He is very polite and friendly with enough English to serve you well and answer your questions about the island. We have learned a lot about Cozumel with him and Felipe whom works with him. The breakfast is very well done and no matter how many people happens to be there at the same time, the staff still makes you feel special. Every day there is a young man running the omelette station who can make any style eggs you are in the mood for always with a smile.
Every Sunday party next door!!! There are two restaurants at the hotel, one with the breakfast is exclusive to guests of the hotel, the other is open to the public which makes your vacation very "Mexican". Families gather to have a meal and dance to the sound of a local band that interacts with the patrons. Salsa dance classes available, parasailing, volleyball court... all in a very family oriented place. We will be back one day and until there we will tell all our friends.
A vacation for anyone. Honeymooning? the place is perfect. Just traveling with family and small kids? fantastic! Taking some time off with your spouse playing golf and some sightseeing? perfect again. Incredible days should include a passage at the spa where you can get amazing massages and pedicures without being overwhelmed with luxury.
It's all simple and effective. A perfect formula. We had a blast. Thanks to all.

After my 10th trip to the Play Azul over the past 5 years I thought I would finally share with everyone what a special place this really is. I just spent 2 amazing weeks there and it is truly in my opinion one of the best places on the planet. The Playa Azul itself is a very nice boutique style hotel in a great location on the north end of the island. It has beautiful rooms, all with Caribbean views. It sits on a piece of property that opens up to a beautiful view of the local waters to both the north and south. The beach is small but very nice and there are plenty of palapas and lounges for everyone to enjoy. My favorite thing is the water itself; it is such a beautiful color turquoise blue that you will remember it forever. I like to dive or jump off the end of the pier and then just stand there in the water and enjoy my surroundings. The beach was affected by hurricane Wilma but is coming back nicely. I suggest just bring some sort or water shoes and get in there and enjoy the refreshing Caribbean. The staff at the hotel has been intact since my first visit and I love them all. At the wonderful breakfast that is included every morning you will be taken care of by Carlos, Juan, and Luis, to name a few. You will enjoy the setting as you watch boats and ships go by as you sip your coffee and enjoy everything from fresh fruit, made to order omelets, pancakes, yogurts and a large selection of local specialties. Out at the bar and at the restaurant you will also been taken care of by Marcial, Kermit and Felipe. At the front desk Roberto and Herman will help you get checked in and take care of all your needs. The housekeeping staff is amazing as you will see how clean your room will be kept and you will enjoy the “towel” animals you will find in your room on any given day. Saving the proprietors for last but not least, Martha and Fernando will make you feel very welcome and will assure your stay with them exceeds your expectations. Like many of you that read this I discovered the Playa Azul by looking for a place to take a golf vacation. I had been to Cozumel on a cruise and another time for a day trip from Playa Del Carmen so when I heard they opened a golf course in 2001 I did some research and found the hotel. The first year I came I put together a group of 14 friends to come to the hotel and to play the course sight unseen. I knew that the island was beautiful but did not know what to expect from the hotel and the golf course. What I can tell you is that for all of us on that trip that both exceeded any expectations that we had. Since that trip I have brought probably 40 different people to the hotel and everyone loves it. In fact I along with a couple of other guys founded the “Playa Azul Open” golf tournament which we hold in late April every year. We have people come in from around the country to join in the fun and all veterans and newcomers alike are welcome to join in the festivities. The Cozumel Country is a world class golf course! I have played all over the US and the world at some of the top courses and this is one of my favorites. Yes it is hard but fair, has several risk and reward opportunities, has many hazards to contend with, is tough to string 18 good holes together but that is the challenge that we all enjoy. Each and every time I get to the course I think to myself that today is the day I’m going to conquer the course. Most of the time I fail but that’s what keeps me coming back. I have played the course about 75 times now and I look forward to playing each and every time I tee it up. I feel just at home with the staff at the Cozumel Country Club as I do at the Playa Azul. Bennie is the director of golf, Ivan is the pro and the staff which includes Olan and Nicolas will make you feel at home as well. Information and pictures of the Playa Azul Open are on the website so check it out and come join in the fun. Anyone considering a trip to Cozumel needs to consider the Playa Azul, you won’t regret it!!-Bob Sandt-Park City, Utah-bsandt@xmission.com

food was as fabulous as we remembered, the drinks were fabulous-love
those mango margaritas! and the staff was awesome as always. The wait
staff in the restaurants are the best! Our room was perfect and it was
kept spotless. The towel creatures on the bed were again a fun touch.
We had the hotel pretty much to ourselves the whole week and with picture
perfect weather, it was a wonderful vacation. We took advantage of the
spa services with Erika and her magic hands and I highly recommend the
foot massage. For sure, another trip to Playa Azul is in our future.

Thank you again for another wonderful stay! Everything was impeccible as always. From the exceptional views off our balcony, the room cleanliness, the professionally polite staff, the fabulously filling breakfast, and the quiet and cozy atmosphere all around; it seems each year gets better! Thanks to Phillipe for the incredible bar service and those mind numbing margarita's (I had to wait a whole year for one and they did not dissapoint)!
I only hope I do not have to wait for another year to pass before I am back on the island. Thanks again for being our home away from home and making our stay so enjoyable. Hope to see you soon!

Greeting Playazul! I am writing to thank you all for the memories of a wonderful family vacation. We traveled to Cozumel January 24,2008 -February 1, 2008. We brought two families that enjoyed every minute of everyday, and the memories are phenominal. One family reserved the Garden House and truly enjoyed that, while the other family reserved two Ocean view Rooms that were amazing, going to sleep every evening and waking up to the sound of the ocean in simply wonderful. We all want to thank you for your hospitality and kindess with every situation that arose. We are now in the planning stages of a destination wedding scheduled there in January 2009, and are truly looking forward to returning and seeing you all again. We just want to say that we could not have had better accomodations, staff, entertainment, etc. than what we had at Playazul. Winters in Minnesota are very lo ng and this is a very relaxing and much needed break by the middle of January. Keep up the good work, and we will be contacting you soon for our January 2009 reservations.

We stayed with you during the period Feb 4 to Feb 18 and just wanted to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. This was the first time for us at the Playa Azul which turned out to be exactly the type of hotel we were expecting. Our initial attraction to the Playa Azul was the small size and obvious attention to service and quiet relaxation. It proved to be all of this. The staff were attentive all of the time and once they found we understood and could speak a little Spanish seemed very pleased with our efforts – and made us speak even more !!.
We met a lot of people who had been visiting the hotel for many years now – and what better a recommendation!
We only had dinner in the restaurant a couple of times as we enjoy getting out to the variety of restaurants downtown. However, you must congratulate the chef for the meals in general but also specifically the incredible duck that I had – it was fabulous with a sauce to die for !!
Obviously the ocean view with the sand dredge barge was not ideal but was an interesting operation and obviously one that is necessary to replace the damaged beaches on the island.
We will do our very best to return again next year.
Many thanks and best wishes.

Our second stay at your beautiful hotel (the week of July 14-21) was
even better then the first time. We have only one regret, and that
is, that our week went by way too quickly! We again would like to
express our thanks and gratitude to your wonderful staff: to Karina
at the front desk for being so accommodating and allowing us to stay
in our favorite room again. We just love the view from room 208 and
hope we will be fortunate enough to be able to stay there on our next
visit as well! To the wonderful staff at breakfast--Carlos, Juan,
Jose (and a few others whose names I can't remember). We were
greeted so warmly every morning, and from just the second day Carlos
knew our room number, Juan never let our coffee cups become empty,
and Jose knew exactly how we liked our eggs cooked. What a great way
to start the day! And the food was excellent as well. A thank you
to your thoughtful maid service--the room was always spotless, we
never lacked for clean towels, and the turn-down service, candies
left on our pillows, and amazing towel art was very much
appreciated. And a note of thanks also to the delightful gentleman
who tended the beach bar in the afternoon. He took great care in
making us the most delicious drinks and we very much enjoyed our
conversations with him. And of course the charm, beauty and
quietness of the hotel in addition to all these wonderful people make
for a relaxing vacation. We are already thinking about our next
vacation which most probably will not be until next summer. But the
one thing we know for sure about our next vacation is that we will be
to returning to the beautiful island of Cozumel and the wonderful
Playa Azul Hotel! Until then we have our memories to sustain us and
we thank you all for them!

Hola from Dallas!
My husband and I just returned from a long weekend in Cozumel. I have been traveling there since 1990 but this was his first trip to the island and my 1st stay at Playa Azul.
There was absolutely NOTHING to complain of. Our flight was delayed in Dallas for 10 hours and we arrived at the hotel at 1:00am. The night shift front desk guy (Horace) was SO NICE to help us with our bags and getting to our room.
It was so nice to be greeted at such a late hour by a beautifully decorated room - and turn down service. Each day we had a different animal shaped towel on our bed and fresh flowers strewn about.
The breakfast buffet is one of the finest on the island! The food is fresh. The cook is most accommodating to making pancakes and any style egg to order. My husband made fast friends with the outside bartenders. (Marta rocks!!!) They are attentive and never leave you thirsty! The homemade guacamole alone is worth the trip!
Before our arrival, I had been in contact with Roberto via email. He will help you with any questions you may have!!! Upon checkout, Herman was very nice too!
Be sure to use the on-site scuba shop. Bobbett will help you with whatever your needs are - scuba or snorkeling trips.
I have stayed in many places in Cozumel but NONE beat Playa Azul! We will be returning in 8 weeks for our anniversary. We are counting the days until our return...

Just wanted to thank you - the room was great! king size bed and refigerator
included.
We had a great time in Cozumel. Played 6 rounds of golf, shopped, ate, drank......:) By the way,
the breakfast was awesome - we really enjoyed the buffet. We ate dinner in your restaurant several times - the food was
very good.
I would like to mention that your hotel and staff, as always, are fabulous and always friendly
and helpful.
A special mention to the housekeeping staff who cleaned our room. Unknown to me, my
visa card, phone card and health card somehow fell out of our travel bag either onto the floor
or the bed. When we returned to our room after golf, the cards were neatly placed on the
bedside table. A special thanks to a most honest employee!
Don & I have decided that when we return to Cozumel, we will always
stay at the Playa Azul.
We will be back but probably not until 2008.
Thanks again, take care.

My wife and I stayed at Playa Azul from Jan. 27 thru Feb. 3/ 2007. We could not have imagined a more perfect stay in paradise! The staff were
all wonderful. Front desk, restaurant, outside bar and maid service were all of the highest quality. We took great delight in the animals made from towels and flowers on our bed each day, and the turn down service with chocolate kisses was a nice touch. Kermit and Phillipe made wonderful virgin Pina Coladas and Bahama Mama's for us. Carole, my wife, took a day excursion to snorkel with Pro Dive and was treated very well by the Pro Dive staff. I very much enjoyed the Cozumel Golf Club and managed to play four times during our stay. Carole had a manicure and I had a massage at the Spa and both were great! Thank you Playa Azul for providing the setting for a perfect holiday. David and Carole Dobinson.

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon for 3 nights beginning on June 25, 2006. It was a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and our room was kept clean daily. Excellent snorkeling, and clear waters. If you have a chance to visit the Lobster house across the street do so!!! Excellent service, and the owner goes out of his way to make you leave satisfied. Wonderful food!! The Playa Azul's breakfast buffet is very delicious and satisfying. A+!!! Thank you for your wonderful help and a great experience!!!

I was lucky enough to be the first one married under the new structure on Playa Azul's Beach front on December 4th! The hotels well-trained, dedicated staff makes you feel as though your on a cruise ship. I did have some reservations about the hotel before my arrival: Does it look as good as their website? Is their food good? Is their beach pretty? All my fears disappeared the moment I stepped in the lobby. The hotel and the beach property are better looking in person, the grounds are spectacular and the food is great. The wedding planner, Stephanie, the hotel staff and chef Miguel made our wedding, reception and stay a dream come true! All our guests said wonderful things about the hotel and wedding and want to return! Thanks Playa Azul for a dream come true! - Beth Mohlman-Hall

Hola! We just spent 8 glorious days out of Kansas and in the Garden House of Playa Azul and loved every minute. Part of our group had previously stayed at Playa Azul so we were all eager to experience it ourselves. Wonderfully small and feels as if it is in its own oasis. Snorkeling is great along a rare beach setting. As much as we like to tour around, we spent a great majority of this time parked on the hotel grounds. With El Nino blowing in, we were glad we had a house to be in one rainy day. The staff, as usual, were great.
With several trips to the Carribean under our belt, this is our only repeat spot---worth it each and every time. Adios until next time!

My sister and I just returned from 5 wonderful relaxing days at Playa
Azul - loved the small boutique size of the hotel and the great
staff. It was so nice to stay at a hotel where they knew us by name
instead of being just a guest in a big hotel. Our 3rd floor corner
suite was ideal and was kept spotlessly clean. The towel animals
were a fun touch. The breakfast buffet was great and the food
overall was great especially the guacamole and the lime soup we
seemed to eat every day for lunch. We did take a cab to town ($5) so
that we could eat at some of our favorite places including Guidos,
Pancho's Backyard and Plaza Leza but it was always so nice to return
to the quiet relaxing atmosphere at Playa Azul. We definitely plan
to return to Playa Azul in the near future.

Subject: We loved our stay at your hotel
My wife and I stayed at “Playa Azul” from November 26 thru December 3 2006. We found the hotel to be very well kept up, clean, quiet, and relaxing. The owners have done a wonderful job of putting the property back together after Hurricane Wilma. The rooms are spacious with new furnishings and fixtures. The bed was a little on the hard side but really no different from other beds we’ve slept on in Mexico.
The front desk staff was very helpful, the housekeeping staff was very good and there was always somebody cleaning or sweeping the floor in the hallways and lobby. We didn’t use the pool but it was always clean with very little sand in it, it is right next to the beach.
The beach is small but there are plenty of palapas around if you need to get a break from the sun. We saw a picture of the beach before the hurricane and it was much bigger at that time. Hurricane Wilma was very devastating to the island as is evident from all the closed, destroyed and abandoned hotels that are left standing along the northern shore line. The storm reshaped the coastline and the beaches but the owners of Playa Azul did a good job of reclaiming as much of their beach as they could.
The breakfast buffet was nice touch and very good with selections of traditional Mexican and American style foods, fresh fruit and fresh squeezed orange juice. We ate at the restaurants for lunch and dinner a few times and really enjoyed our meals. They claim to have two restaurants but I would call it more like two dining rooms, one indoors and the other outside on a large covered patio. The menu was the same for lunch and dinner although one evening they did have an expanded dinner menu. We really enjoyed the lime soup and fish dishes, grilled grouper one night and red snapper another. The fajitas, fish tacos and guacamole were wonderful.
If you like to snorkel there are some fish to be seen north of the hotel. There is an easy entry point up past the beach club in front of the old closed down hotel.
We saw French Grunts, Barracuda, Butterfly Fish, French Angel, Blue Tangs, Sargent Majors etc .
We really enjoyed our stay at Playa Azul and if we ever return to Cozumel we will definitely stay there again.

Re: Hello - Looking forward to our stay
We just returned from our trip to Cozumel & Mayan Riviera. Please accept our compliments to all of your staff. We really enjoyed
staying at your hotel.
Karina was wonderful, always helpful.
Kermit (your bartender) makes the absolute best Banana Daquari's and
Marguarita's in the area.
Your other bartender (we still do not know his name) chatted to us about great dive sites in Cozumel.
Also, all of your staff at breakfast were really kind and provided great service.
We waited 2 years to stay at your hotel and were not disappointed even though the north winds were
in full swing.
Please forward our thank you to your staff for an excellent vacation.
Muchos Gracias to all!
Hope to see you next year.

Subject : my stay at playa-azul
Hola,
I have only stayed at this hotel once. Prior to that I had always stayed on the island at the Presidente. However, in May of 2005 I thought I would give the Azul a try --- wanted to stay in a smaller place and I had heard a lot of good things about this hotel. I was not disappointed at all in my stay. I found everyone to be very friendly and the service was good. I liked it so much that I plan to return there sometime in the late winter / early spring of 2007. If you want personal service, beautiful surroundings and to have the feeling of "a home away from home", this is the place to say. I will see you in 2007.
Sincerely,
Celia

We stayed 5nights at Playa Azul, we had a very relaxing nice time. The staff was very friendly & attentive. Definetly get a scooter & cruise the East side of the island, Coconuts, Chen Rio beach, Bob Marley's bar are a treat. Great restaurants- Primo, Pepe's Grill & we had a nice dinner at Playa Azul. Definetly take the ferry to see Playa del Carmen, thats a beautiful area. Playa Azul is in a great location but if you are looking for alot of action, stay at one of the all inclusives, Playa Azul was quiet & just right.

We stayed at Playa Azul from June 10th to June 17th. We got married at a beach club on the southern end of the island but the majority of our guests stayed at Playa Azul. The ones that didn't and chose an all inclusive wish they would have stayed at Playa Azul.
The staff at Playa Azul was extremely friendly and courteous throughout our planning process all the way through to our last guest's departure. They made sure all of our needs were met. Christian, the food and beverage manager was very helpful in planning our rehearsal dinner. Everything at the hotel was perfect. All of the rooms had stunning ocean views and the food at the hotel was very good. We stayed in the master suite (top floor) and it was fabulous but all of rooms had excellents ocean views. The only regret that we had is that we didn't stay longer. We definitely will come back to celebrate our anniversary in the years to come.

I look forward to seeing the new hotel as previous visits were at your old hotel. I have sent several freinds over the years and and they too have been extremely happy. In truth I only tell my best friends as your place is a special place for special people and occasions and I have had trouble booking space there in previous years, so I am looking forward to this visit.

We just returned from 10 days in Cozumel, our first visit there, all spent at Playa Azul. We can't say enough good about your wonderful hotel. It is small, beautiful, the staff extremely friendly, the food great, and the beach gorgeous. We snorkeled every day, and while the reefs were not as colorful as they probably were pre-hurricane, we saw many fish. The star attraction, though, was the multi-hued blue Cariibean, which took your breath away on a daily basis. Our teen daughter grew a little restless without a lot of her own kind around, but my husband and I would definitely return for a quiet couples retreat. Thank you for a wonderful vacation--the memories and afterglow continue to bring many smiles to our family.

I have visited Cozumel over a dozen times Playa Azul is the best value available when measuring all factors, (Food, location, cleanliness, service, etc.). If you play golf (and I do) the deal you get with the Cozumel Golf Club makes the stay at the hotel a FANTASTIC bargain. Enjoy yourselves, just don't tell too many people about this gem!

The people of Cozumel have been very friendly and helpful. The personnel and staff at Hotel have been absolutly superb. The amenities have been great along with the nicest beach on the island. I came to Playa Azul with three of our children (ages 16, 12 and 11) for 8 glorious days of sun and fun. As a woman traveling alone with kids, this was an extremely safe and pretty place to stay. We enjoyed the quiet and, after viewing other nearby hotels, knew we'd chosen the right spot... we did not miss the constant loud music and partying that was going on day and night just a few minutes away! This is a great family hotel, and a wonderful place for couples, too. The service was impecable. Every room is beautiful and has pool/ocean views. The food choices were healthy and delicious, always fresh with attention to artful detail. Mostly, we all truly enjoyed the community of new friends we met, couples, parents and kids, alike. There was plenty to do at Playa Azul... and plenty of just hanging out in the gorgeous, comfy environment. Every detail is attended to by the friendly and efficient staff. The hurricane may have changed things a bit for a little while, it has not dimmed the smiles of our new Mexican friends at Playa Azul. The beach was just fine, water clear and, honestly, every day we saw great improvements happening all around the island. Playa Azul is in GREAT shape! Gorgeous and very well maintained. Spotlessly clean. We had a wonderful time... and look forward to seeing the new spa on our next visit. We'll be back soon, and many times after that! Thanks for everything!!

The rooms, the staff, the amenities and especially the beach have been equal to any Five Star hotel anywhere. Unfortunately, our last visit was cut short by visitor named Wilma and we had to leave early. According to all the reports on the Internet, things are almost back to normal on the island, so we're now making arrangements to return in April for our 45th Anniversary. Looking forward to coming back and enjoying your fine hotel.

We just returned from another FANTASTIC !!!!vacation at Playa Azul. My wife and I were there last January (pre hurricane) and then again this January for a wonderful wedding and reception (ie post hurricane). Fernando, Martha and all their staff have done a spectacular job in rebuilding Playa-Azul after the storm. Aside from the odd construction worker touching up some areas you would have never known they had experienced a disaster of that magnitude. Many thanks from Linda and myself to Fernando, Martha, the front desk staff (sorry can't remember names), the maids (again no names :-), the restaurant staff (Carlos(captain), Jesus, Juan, Carlos(yes there is 2 of them) and others), the pallapa(sp? - aka the beach bar) staff (Kermit, Felipe and others), you made our stay an enjoyable pleasure and we plan on returning in the years ahead. Also this note would not be complete without a comment on the wonderul golf course that the hotel is associated with. It too was in GREAT!! shape.....still very receptive to my golf balls (ie I lost a few and the crocodiles would not give them back :-). Benny(the golf course manager) and his staff at the Cozumel Country Club treated us VERY well. Thanks to all of you who made this a very enjoyable time in Cozumel.

Hello! I have been doing alot of research vacations. I am getting married in May'06 and we have decided 99% that we are going to the Playa Azul. I am looking to hear from some people that have been here about if we are making the right choice or not . I was told by a travel agent that a 3 star hotel is like a 1 star hotel in the US. But by the pictures this is that place I want to go ! I have never been to the ocean before, and I want it to be beautiful beyond what I have imagined. And also a concern about the beach being washed away. Does anyone know if it will be there in May? I want to see white sand and blue waters and let my husband go play golf (how is the golf course?) while I lay on the beach and relax!! If you would please e-mail me and let me know any information that would definetely make me book our flight!! Thank you! I hope it is as beautiful as it looks!

TO OUR GUESTS, ALL FRIENDS, AND TO THOSE WHO WOULD BE IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
After being hardly struck by Hurricane Wilma, it is with great pleasure that we are informing all of our friends, the Playa Azul community, of our next reopening on January the 1st.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who, with your thoughts and prayers, helped us both during the time of the hurricane, and mostly, during the very long time that our recovery has taken. Your letters of support have been greatly appreciated by all of us.
Playa Azul suffered a lot of damage, as could be expected after being hit by the most powerful hurricane ever recorded. Fortunately, and except for the breakage of the pier, we suffered no structural damage. Almost all windows and window frames were lost though, as all rocksheet roofing, all the palapas, almost all furniture. The garden was lost and also the beach. The Playa Azul Beach Club was declared total loss for all purposes.
Nevertheless everything has been or is being restored. New windows and roofs have been installed; new mattresses, bed sheets and bedspreads have been bought; new curtains adorn the rooms; recently painted doors with new doorknobs are framed on newly painted buildings; a new telephone system with voice mail is on its way and fiber optics are being installed; the pool is completely restored, painted and new tiles have been added; the beach bar is back in business; new palapas and beach chairs are already in place. The terrace has been enlarged and can now seat a hundred guests; the indoor dining room is being upgraded and should be fully operational in a couple of more weeks. A brand new palapa is being built next door at the beach club and new furniture should come in shortly.
Our only sorrow is the loss of our beautiful beach. All sand was eroded and nothing but rocks and limestone were left uncovered. We have brought some sand back and will be adding more in the next couple of weeks, but unfortunately it is going to take still some time to bring it back to what it was before Wilma.
But most importantly, all in our staff are safe and ready and willing to welcome all of you. We have been working day and night for that purpose, for we may have been pounded once and again, but neither our bodies nor our spirits were ever brought down.
Happy New Year,
Martha and Fernando

Martha and Fernando, You have a terrific hotel. We have been coming there once or twice a year for almost ten years. We have never been disappointed. We have brought many friends there from the US and all have enjoyed the beach, the hotel and the cuisine. The entire hotel staff is always responsive, courteous and friendly. Thanks for working to maintain such a long-term committment to excellence. We will be bringing more friends with us in January and look forward to a great time there.

Hotel was nice, food was good, staff was helpful, beach was small but nice, water was perfect. We've been to many resorts, but this was the first time that people other than guests could use facilities like pool and chairs. They invited family or friends and cruise ship people, sometimes so many that i was unable to have a chair or use the pool. Did complain but they did not say much.(and this was off season so it should not have been crowded)

Wow, my family and I just returned home from our fabulous vacation in Cozumel. The Playa Azul is an awesome hotel. The room was great, especially the view!! I can't wait to show my family the pictures. We traveled with our 7-year-old twin daughters and they loved everything about the place. It is beautifully decorated, the air-conditioning works great, almost too good, and the breakfasts were wonderful. We ate there every morning and always had something different. I sure hope we can come visit again soon.

We have returned from our June 2-8 stay at the Playa Azul. It is sheer bliss at the Playa Azul. The rooms are wonderful, tv works, bottled water in the room daily, full brekafast with changing menu was great. Palapas nicely spaced, no noise, nice employees, beautiful sandy beach. Perfect for anyone who does NOT want the hype of the larger hotels with the Spring break crowd. Quiet, convenient. We had room 203 which was fine -- next time would try for 4th floor 407 or 408 would be tops. Can't say enough. good things.

We took so many nice pictures and have them on our computer as screensavers, we miss Mexico already! We will happily recommend you as a place to stay to anyone looking for quiet, serene and well kept place to stay. The atmosphere was pleasant! It is fun to share our pictures with all our friends and family, although Senior Frogs got a little crazy, so we needed to be selective with some! Being back in Minnesota, it is even neat to watch your weather on the weather channel, as our thoughts are always in Mexico too...... We were blessed to be able to find you on the internet! Well ,we're back safe and sound in the cold and snow of Minnesota. Just
want again to thank you and all the good people of Playa Azul for a most
enjoyable stay in your hotel. We found the people there most extraordinary. Starting with Roberto at the front desk. Fillipe and Kermit at the outside bar during the day. Juan, Carlos and Luis our breakfast servers.
Jesus and Thomas our dinner servers. Filomena our room attendent. All were just marvelous and I know there are others but I didn't get all their names. There was a Roberto who worked cleaning the hallways who gave me
Spanish lessons almost everyday. I hope I can retain some of what he taught
me. As I mentioned to you in the lobby that day or two before we left, we will be back, but maybe not next year. We have some good friends that are
after us to go to Hawaii next year. I'm sure we will return to Cozumel and
Playa Azul in 2007 and I will start bothering you about getting us into our favorite room #409 sometime in late 2006. Stay well and be of good cheer. Robert and Marion Lovell

Buenos Noches! OH Playa Azul!! How we miss you!! Matt and I
just left you yesterday morning following a 6 nite stay. This was our
first time on a romantic getaway, and we chose your hotel based on a "good
feeling" that we had about it. We could not have been happier with our
choice! Everyone was very professional and kind. Our room and all the
grounds were maintained perfectly. It was quiet and peaceful, and i had a
wonderful sleep EVERY SINGLE NITE. We had an oceanview room, and could
listen to the ocean as we fell asleep. We loved coming home from our
excursions to find a note on the bed inviting us to the next nights
buffet. We looked forward to the breakfast buffet with all the guys
serving it up with a smile and a brief spanish lesson. You all made our
trip soooo special; we will NEVER book a trip anywhere else in Cozumel.
Can't wait to see you again,

Martha and Fernando,
Emma and I just want to thank you and your staff for a great stay at Playa Azul from June 13-17, 2004. It would have been good under normal weather conditions, but with us following the great rain of Cozumel, it has to rate as fantastic. The adjustment your staff made to their normal duties was very impressive, when someone was not able to show up because of the high water, another employee stepped in to fill the position as best they could. And you two working the lobby Monday and Tuesday to comfort your guess and assist them in making the best of a bad weather situation was very impressive.
Yes, Emma and I were very disappointed in not being able to play golf on our "golfing" anniversiary vacation, and do intend to hold you to your commitment of playing a round with us our next trip to Cozumel.
God Bless and Thanks Again,

We've been home a month and we still think about our stay at your wonderful hotel. We had the most marvelous two weeks, Feb. 9-23 of any vacation we can think of. We'd like to thank some of your most helpful staff from Miriam who was our first contact over the internet and got us the most beautiful room(409). Herran(I hope this is spelled right) who checked us in. Juan and Thomas who took such good care of us at breakfast. Alex, Jesus and Pedro that did the same in the evening. Kermit, Eli and Felipe who served the beer and drinks with such good cheer. We especially like to thank Maria Louisa for keeping our room spotless and providing us with the most amusing towel sculptures. She's a gem. Of course there were a good many people that we did not get to meet who provided services that made the stay so great. We are planning to get back there again next year. I also want to add, the golfing was spectacular even if I didn't play so well. A real added bonus. One feature that stands out the most for us was the great attention to detail. Everything worked and it was kept so clean and neat. Muchas Gracias, Bob and Marion.

Wedding at Playa Azul 06/05/03
Dear Martha
We had a wonderful time at your hotel and the facilities at the “ excellent” Playa-Azul were second to none. The staff throughout the resort had special talent, from the maids creating animals from towels, to the bar tenders making their glamorous cocktails. Unbelievable!
Helen and I made friends easily at the hotel and we would like to congratulate your staff team for making us feel like Royalty. All of our friends and family in England and Ireland were delighted to here that Playa Azul was the perfect setting for our “ big day” and that everything was faultless. It was the greatest time and our memories of Cozumel, México, will last forever.
Special thanks go to Stephanie, the wedding coordinator who was fantastic, as our day would not have been the same, or complete without her.
My Mother and Father-in-law, Mary and Geoff, who accompanied us on our journey to Wedlock would like me to pass on their best wishes, thanks and gratitude for making it a dream como true for all of us.
We would also be honoured if you show our photographs on your website.
Thank you.
Kind regards
Barry and Helen
